Palisade 57010 Shower Kit : Easy Urban Glacier Install

The Palisade Shower Surround Kit 57010 offers a straightforward way to refresh a tired shower space with its 78in x 60in x 36in waterproof vinyl panels in Urban Glacier. I put this kit to the test in a guest bathroom remodel where the old tile was cracking and outdated, aiming for a quick update without a full gut job. Right from unboxing, the interlocking design and included accessories promised a cleaner install than traditional surrounds.

Installation kicked off easily over the existing substrate using the four tubes of adhesive and sealant provided—no demolition required, which saved me a weekend of mess. The panels, including two 36”W x 78”H ones and two interlocking 30”W x 78”H pieces that combine to 58.75”W, snapped together snugly with built-in grout lines that eliminated messy grouting. Trims like the 78” J-trims, inside corners, and L-trims, plus two corner shelves, finished the edges professionally in under a day.

In daily use, the matte vinyl finish in Urban Glacier holds up well against water splashes and soap scum, with the UV-cured polyurethane layer resisting scratches better than expected during my two-month trial. Moisture stays out thanks to the tight interlocking edges, and cleaning just needs a quick wipe—no special products required. That said, the 92-pound pallet shipment means planning for delivery access, and precise cutting for plumbing fixtures demands basic tools like a utility knife.

For families juggling busy schedules, this kit shines in scenarios like updating a rental property or powder room where speed trumps perfection. The lightweight 0.2-inch thick panels glue up reliably onto clean surfaces, avoiding the hassle of heavy tile work. However, if your shower has odd angles or heavy existing damage, you might need extra prep to ensure a flat base.

Performance-wise, the durability impressed during steamy showers; no yellowing occurred under bathroom lighting, and the classic rectangular shape fits standard alcove spaces without custom sizing. The included components covered everything for a complete surround, making it ideal for DIYers confident in measuring twice. One minor drawback: the adhesive tubes require a caulk gun, not mentioned upfront, so factor that in.

Users with small bathrooms or those seeking a low-maintenance alternative to ceramic will appreciate how this handles humidity without mildew issues. It's not suited for ultra-modern aesthetics craving glossy finishes, but the subtle Urban Glacier tone blends neutrally with most decors. Overall, it delivers reliable waterproofing and ease for practical upgrades.

Reflecting on real-world application, the kit transformed a dated 60-inch deep shower into a fresh, seamless space that guests noticed immediately. The corner shelves add functional storage without extra cost, perfect for shampoo bottles in tight quarters. While pro installers might prefer custom options, for homeowners tackling it themselves, this strikes a smart balance of quality and simplicity.
